I read about Black Ruby on someone else's blog and thought 'BINGO!' as I needed a special place to go for dinner with my boyfriend who was back in Melbourne for the weekend :)
We got all dressed up and was really impressed by the decore in the restaurant (we actually sat where those people in this picture are seated).
We ordered a scallop entree, fettuccine and gnocci mains and dessert was a chocolate tart and orange creme brulee.
We were also given bread rolls with olive oil and butter for starters which were on the house.
The bread was really yummy and tasted fresh. Just could not believe I was eating bread with butter at a restaurant. It's a novelty for us celiacs ;)
The scallop wasn't all that great :( not very fresh at all but the mains were very well done and filling.
We were stuffed but could not resist the dessert menu and it didn't disappoint. My orange creme brulee was perfect.
The service was really good overall; staff were friendly and prompt.
Overall, a lovely experience.
I highly recommend this place :)
Happy dining!
